The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved the Trademark Treaty in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) during its meeting on December 5, 2018.

According to the Treaty a new system of simple, faster and less expensive registration procedure in respect of trademarks of the EAEU and appellations of origin of the EAEU, allowing to register the same in any of the PTOs of the contracting states, will be launched.

The applicants will receive a single Registration Certificate, and all information and details on registered trademarks and appellations of origin will be contained in the unified Registries of the Economic Union.

The Treaty will begin to operate after 2020, once the necessary instructions and rules for implementing the general procedure as well as the process documentation are accepted.
