EAPO has published updated Rules on Inventions

Following amendments to the Patent Regulations, the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) has introduced amendments to the Rules for drafting, filing, and examining applications for Eurasian patents (pt. 1, inventions).

Among other things, the following important changes can be mentioned:

a new section 5.5 has been included, concerning the procedure for verifying the sufficiency of disclosure of the essence of the invention;
provisions regarding the verification of industrial applicability, novelty, and inventive step have been specified;
certain special provisions have been added regarding compositions, compounds, polymorphic substances, products-by-process, and IT technologies;
provisions regarding divisional applications have been updated.

The amended Rules will apply from February 1, 2026.
