Today has come into effect the Federal Law No. 187-FZ dated 02.07.2013 “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation Related to Protection of IP Rights in Information and Telecommunication Networks”. The amendments relate to the protection of IP rights to the films, including motion pictures and television movies.
The said Law gives a definition of “information agent” and describes special aspects of responsibility of “information agent” for the IP rights infringement in the information and telecommunication networks; describes an access restriction procedure and order of obtaining a court ruling by a right holder, including order of obtaining a preliminary injunction.
The claims on protection of the IP rights on films, including motion pictures and television movies in the information and telecommunication networks shall be considered before the Moscow City Court.
