In the end of 2015, the Russian Patent and Trademark Office (Rospatent) updated the whole set of 26 Administrative Regulations for IP-related state services. By now, 21 of the Regulations have been registered and published, and most of them have already came into force. Thereby, the Regulations for state services provided by Rospatent were updated in accordance with the acting provisions of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation.

A significant number of the updated Regulations, including the long-awaited ones related to Designs, came into force from January 08, 2016. Another set of the Regulations, including those related to Utility Models, will come into force from January 27, 2016. Only several of the updated Regulations related to Inventions are still undergoing the registration.

Moreover, the two new legislative acts of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) came into force from January 1, 2016, relating to:
– Appealing against decisions of the Eurasian Patent Office, and
– Appealing against the Grant of a Eurasian patent under the procedure of administrative invalidation of the Eurasian patent.
