By popular demand, on June 01, 2016 the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) introduced accelerated prosecution procedures for Eurasian applications, including accelerated formal and substantive examination, as well as accelerated publication and granting of Eurasian patents (www.eapo.org).
At present, formal examination can be accelerated up to 10 and even 5 days. Under the accelerated substantive examination, a first official communication will be issued within 3 months.
Moreover, on July 01, 2016 EAPO adopted the Pilot PCT-PPH program (PPH using PCT international work products, www.eapo.org) in addition to the existing PPH agreement between EAPO and the Japan Patent Office (JPO).
Gladly welcoming given developments of EAPO, we are sure they will be in great demand. Considering the fact that the Russian Patent and Trademark Office (Rospatent) has no accelerated prosecution procedures (except for PPH), the procedures introduced by EAPO provide applicants, both domestic and foreign, with unique opportunity to obtain legal protection by a patent in Russia within a short time.
